In other words, what does the Bible call the church to look like?
Our Membership Commitments
As those who have experienced the grace of God, we commit by the power of the Spirit to follow Jesus together in these ways:
As God has graciously given us his Word, I will submit to the Scriptures as the final authority in all of life (2 Tim 3:14–17; 2 Pet 1:19–21).
As the Father has adopted me into his family, I will gather regularly with this church family (Rom 8:15; Heb 3:13; 10:24–25).
As the Father is holy, I will pursue increasing holiness in how I speak and live (1 Pet 1:14–16; 2 Cor 6:17–7:1; 1 Thess 4:3).
As the Father disciplines those he loves, I will pursue and receive church discipline as a mercy from God (Matt 18:15–20; 1 Cor 5:9–13; Heb 12:5–11).
As Jesus has reconciled me to the Father, I will reconcile with those I sin against or who sin against me (Matt 5:23–24; Rom 12:18; Eph 4:1–3).
As Jesus has radically loved me, I will love and serve this church family (John 13:34; 15:12; Gal 5:13; 6:1–2).
As Jesus has been generous to me, I will financially support this church in joyful worship (2 Cor 8:9; 9:6–8: Acts 2:42–47; 1 Cor 16:2).
As Jesus has given his church shepherds, I will submit to these pastors who are held accountable for my soul (1 Pet 5:2–5; Heb 13:17).
As Jesus has sent his church, I will make disciples in the power of the Spirit (Matt 28:18–20; John 17:18; Acts 1:8).
As Jesus has united us to his people, I will join with another biblical church should I leave this one (Acts 2:42–47; Heb 10:24–25; 1 John 2:19).
